  1. Can Israel and Palestine coexist in One State?

I believe that the two territories should be incorporated into the existing state of Israel. I feel all of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip should then be made citizens of the new unified country and be treated the same as the existing Israeli citizens. A One State Solution is a concept where all people, no matter their color, race, or religion, can live harmoniously together. Israeli Arabs and Jews would have equal rights. This is the only way for Israel to be a true Democracy.

  2. What more information is there about Hamas?

The group named Hamas is one of the two main political groups in Palestine. Hamas won most of the votes at the election in 2006; however, the group did not take control of the Palestinian leadership. From June 2007 until now Hamas been in control of the Gaza Strip. To the United States, Israel, and and Europe, Hamas is considered to be a terrorist group. Hamas’ leader’s name is Khalid Meshal. The group, Hamas, feels it is a religious duty to eliminate Israel.

  5. What are the principles of the Oslo Agreement?

The Oslo Agreement called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of the Gaza Strip and West Bank, and affirmed a Palestinian right of self-government within those areas through the creation of a Palestinian Interim Self-Government Authority. Palestinian rule was to last for a five-year interim period during which "permanent status negotiations" would commence - no later than May 1996 - in order to reach a final agreement. Major issues such as Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, Israeli settlements, and security and borders were to be decided at these permanent status negotiations. Israel was to grant interim self-government to the Palestinians in phases.

  6. Was America involved in this conflict?

President George W. Bush declared in statement that the reason of the violence is all because of the Hamas. The United States worked towards stopping the Hamas from firing rockets into Israel during this conflict. At the United Nations, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned Israel's use of force. Comparing the United States to the Middle East, there is very little conflicts in America like this.

  7. What is the PLO?

The PLO is actually the Palestine Liberation Organization, which is a political and military organization created in 1964. Its main purpose is to be the "sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people." Palestinians are mostly those who have an Arab culture and speak Arabic. The PLO was considered by the US and Israel to be a terrorist organization because of attacks on Israel and their goal of eliminating Israel. However, in 1993, the PLO agreed that Israel had a right to exist and to stop using "violence and terrorism." Israel also agreed to recognize the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people. Today, about one half of the world's Palestinian's population lives in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and Israel.

  8. Question: What is the meaning of PLO?
PLO stands for Palestine Liberation Organization. They are fighting the Israelis because they feel that their country was stolen from them in 1946. I believe that the Palestinians feel that Israel is not complying with the UN mandates, which would allow the Palestinians greater liberty. The Israelis continue to build settlements, ignoring the UN and US objections.
